Still not sure of the root cause, but essentially the battery reserved exclusively for starting the engine was flat. So no way to recharge the main battery either.
Jeremy and I have thought over all the "if only's". But we take comfort in the knowledge that we had performed well in the often difficult first stage of the race and were positioned in the leading pack. And that lessons learnt include an upgrade to alternative sources of energy.
Bring on August 2013 - unfinished business.......
dear oh dear! I hope you're okay you two, safe trip home!
ReplyDeleteWhoops!
ReplyDeleteHope you are both okay and that Sir Pengu isn't in a flap.

A very sad predicament, but importantly you are all safe. Oh well at least you will have been in the same place at the same time as the winner - a momentous record breaking occasion.
ReplyDeleteYou will just have to get rid of that pesky Pixie and replace with the one eyed penguin from down under!! or has he retired?! Bad luck Richard and Jeremy - lesson learnt I guess and am sure all will be ship shape in 2013, meanwhile lots of sailing between now and then anyway!!
ReplyDeleteWe were neighbors dock in Cowes (A35). I am very sorry for you. Congratulations for this great start to the race.
ReplyDeleteFYI, we are recently equipped with fuel cell... is extremely efficient and above all, incredibly comfortable and reliable.
Good wind for the future.
